Middle of Now | Here

Honolulu Biennial 2017, presented by Honolulu Biennial Foundation (HBF) is a new, multi-site, contemporary visual arts festival taking place throughout various venues within the city of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Entitled, Middle of Now | Here, Fumio Nanjo, Director of Tokyo’s Mori Art Museum, serves as the Curatorial Director and Ngahiraka Mason, former curator of Indigenous and Maori Art at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, serves as Curator of Middle of Now | Here.

The festival will run from March 8 through May 8, 2017

and will take place at various venues throughout the city, including Foster Botanical Gardens, Ward Village, Honolulu Hale (City Hall), Bishop Museum and the Honolulu Museum of Art.

The biennial will feature 30 artists, including Native Hawaiian and locally-based artists. The event will also focus on the broader Pacific region, featuring emerging, mid-career, and leading national and international artists from countries and continents linked by the Pacific Ocean.
